While working with a Cisco switch I was handed tonight I experienced something new.
Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process. Boot process failed… switch:
Okay, so there it is missing the image file to boot from, now what? After a little bit of googling I performed the following to allow the system to successfully boot.
switch: flash_init set BAUD 57600
At this stage you need to reconfigure Hyper Terminal to be at 57600 baud, and reconnect.
copy xmodem: flash:test
I started the file transfer with hyper terminal at this stage, which took approximately 10 minutes.
Needless to say, this required the reconfiguration of Hyper Terminal yet again. Once back at the switch: I continued to fix up the file name and boot the switch.
rename flash:test flash:c3500XL-c3h2s-mz.120-5.1.XP.bin boot flash:c3500XL-c3h2s-mz.120-5.1.XP.bin
This brought the switch back to life and allowed me to continue configuration it.
